Returns & Refunds

Our promise

Every saree is inspected before it’s packed, but pieces travel a fair distance between our workshop and your hands — so if something genuinely isn’t right, we want to make it right. This page explains what counts as a return-worthy issue and what’s simply normal for a dyed and finished silk saree.

Return window

You can request a return or exchange within 7 days of delivery. The saree must be unused, unwashed, unironed, and with its original tags attached and the fall/edging unstitched — exactly as it arrived.

Who pays for return shipping

For a change-of-mind return or exchange, the saree needs to be shipped back to us at your own cost. For a genuine weaving defect, damage in transit, or if we sent the wrong item, we cover the return shipping — see Damaged or incorrect items below.

What counts as a genuine defect

We’ll accept a return or offer a replacement for issues like:

  • Broken or pulled warp/weft threads, or a visible snag in the weave
  • Zari work that is unevenly applied, coming loose, or missing in patches
  • Sequins, beads, or embellishments falling off on arrival
  • Colour running or bleeding well beyond what’s normal for a first gentle wash
  • The wrong saree or wrong colour sent
  • Damage that clearly happened in transit

What’s not a defect — normal variation in production

A few things are a normal part of how any dyed and finished silk saree turns out, rather than flaws, and aren’t eligible for return on their own:

  • Minor variation in zari tone between sarees, or zari that naturally oxidises and deepens in colour over time — this varies batch to batch and isn’t a defect
  • A slight difference between the colour on your screen and the saree in hand, due to screen calibration, lighting, and natural variation between dye lots
  • Minor, natural irregularities along an unstitched fall or edge before finishing

If you’re ever unsure whether something you’re seeing is a defect, send us a photo before requesting a return — we’d rather explain it than have you send back a saree that’s perfectly fine.

How to request a return

Email us at mayankvastram@gmail.com with your order number, the reason for the return, and clear photos of the issue. For a weaving defect, a damaged package, or a wrong item, an unboxing video (filmed continuously from before the package is opened) helps us verify and approve the return much faster. We’ll confirm pickup or return-shipping details once we’ve reviewed it.

Exchange or refund

For a genuine defect or an incorrect item, you can choose a replacement of the same saree, an exchange for a different colour or design of equal value, or a full refund — whichever you’d prefer, and we cover the return shipping. If you simply changed your mind and the saree is still unused with tags intact, we’re happy to offer an exchange or store credit, with return shipping paid by you.

Refunds

Once we receive and inspect the returned saree, we’ll process your refund to the original payment method (or via bank transfer for Cash on Delivery orders) within 5–7 business days.

Damaged or incorrect items

If your saree arrives damaged or isn’t what you ordered, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos (and an unboxing video, if you have one) — we’ll arrange a replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Non-returnable items

Some things can’t be accepted back once they leave our workshop:

  • Sarees that have been worn, washed, ironed, or had the fall/edging stitched
  • Sarees with tags removed or missing
  • Items marked as final sale or clearance
